joining the East coast
Wilburville – Interlaken – Timbridge – Ross 86
I follow the gravel road, and just before the river I turn on right in a narrow gravel trail. After a while it becomes a ground trail downhill, and cross a bridge and a grid. Here it becomes a tumbled stone and ground path, it looks like deserving a farm, but yes it is the good road! It crosses grids and fields, grows better, then becomes gravel road again, and joins the Interlaken road at it start.
I turn on left and follow the Interlaken gravel road. After 3 long up and down, I suddenly see the lakes. But I have yet 10 km mostly downhill, till the lakes. All that is by forest or grass land.
Lake Sorel is closed for fishing, and so the Dago picnic area; but I lunch in the cottage club neighbor. I don’t find water. The lakes are big, but not really scenic, rounded by hills with forest.
I continue. It comes 5 km easy uphill, and 10 km very steep downhill, I won’t like to do it up! There are beautiful views on the large valley down. It is all by the forest.
I enter in the very large and flat valley, crops and fields, a bit sad. After 10 km, I join Tambridge, a few houses, where I ask for water.
I turn on left in the main road, rather a lot of traffic. I have 15 km undulating with head wind till Cross.
Ross is a little antic town, worth a visit for a few stone buildings and a bridge. I go to the sport ground and camp.
Ross – Campbell – B34 – A2 – Cranbrook 82
I have light rain today. I follow the A1 till Campbell town, by farms land. Campbell is a little town, all services but no shelter for the rain. There a free campsite at the entrance, near the red bridge and the river.
I decide to take on left the B34 way to Swansea. I meet 10 km steep climbing by farms land. Then it enters in the forest, with a lot of up and downhill the top, 640 m high, and the cross to the waterfalls. At this cross there is a picnic area, just a table.
I follow the road, 20 km downhill, till the cross with the highway A1.
I choose here to turn on left, way to North. It continues a bit hilly, by fields. I arrive in Cranbrook, which are a few houses and an antic church. I camp here, in the yard of the church, too tired.
