End of that tour in Oman. Last thing at last minute I find the new edition of the excellent book Oman off Road, 38 places to explore in Oman plus geology plants and animals, the book I should have follow all along that tour. Certainly I missed nice detours, because I didn't get that book. Well I get a scan of it now, I may come again in Oman.

Oman 21 Salill till Muscat

06/01 Salill till Muscat via Yitti 81 km

Here I take the gravel road on left, opposite the mosque way to Yitti. The road is firm and mostly downhill so it is easy. Sure I get a few short too steep climbs but nothing hard. It pass inside the mountain with steep high slopes in all colours of brown and orange and a very few houses or villages. After 23km I join the asfalt and Yitti town. 

Then I follow by the road, with lot of up and down and crosses and round about, making a bit difficult finding the way, till the coast road. 

I make a stop at Yatch Club beach to see the camping place. Well it cost 5 rials, nearly 12 €, for a poor place in the sun near the toilet at the end of the beach, no restaurant and no wifi. 

I get off that cheating place and continue till old Muscat. Here are a lot of tourists but it is not possible to visit the palace. Well I recommend to go and see the sea near the palace, and to visit the house museum. 

Then I continue along the coast till Muthrah, rolling on the large board walk, no problem, along the harbour, very nice. Just after old Muscat there is a nice park where to camp. 

Well I continue I go to Ruwi by the boardwalk, be careful it is along the parallel service street. Then I have to take the highway, but there is a large shoulder and no exit, so no problem apart the noise. 

I get off at Qurm beach and I follow it till the end. Then I take a parallel road, al karijyat street, which becomes al Wizarat and then 18th of November, light traffic driving me till the airport. 

In fact I get off today a while before the airport, I turn on right just before the wadi, there a gazoline station on other side, to join the beach road. 

And at the end is the public beach and a nice park to camp. Well it is a bit noisy, by the families who comes and picnic by the evening. So next day I come back to 18th November street and then I turn on left way to the airport where I wait for my friend.

We get a coffy week end, hotel at Naseem, basic on Muthrah, and good restaurants.

Oman 20 Bimah till Salill

05/01 Bimah till Salill 75 km

I follow the back road till Dibah, along the sea, 18km. Nothing special vut a nice park wher to camp, abouy 5km after Bimah.

Then I connect with the highway for 30km, a little busy, till the cross to Qurayat. Here I make a mistake I don't go to the town, so by the way I miss a nice gravel flat road along a wadi. Well I follow by the highway till Salill, with a lot of up and down, and turn on right at the cross just before the bridge, after a gasoline station.

Oman 19 Tiwi till bimah

04/01 Tiwi till bimah 28 km

Next morning I do shopping in the supermarket in Tiwi, and then I follow for 3 km till wadi Shab. Well it looks similar, a river between high cliffs with palm trees. But I prefer it. 

The path is lightly climb there is water in the river and after 3 quaters the path stops, broken. And here there is a natural pool. It is also possible to swim to pass the broken part. 

But I choose to come back. I continue the road. For 15 km I folow the highway. And in Fins I turn way to the sea to follow the old road. Well nothing special but no traffic, and nearer the sea. 

I continue the road till the entrance of Bimah. Here I see an abandonned house along the sea. It is clean so I camp on the terrace.

Oman 18 Sur till Tiwy

03/01 Sur till Tiwy 62 km

First I cross again the town. Then I follow the coast, more or less, in fact I am in the industrial area. 

After passing the sea water cleaning I join and follow during 30km the highway till Tiwi. Nothing special, dry moubtain on left, sand on right with sea at the distance. Very few traffic. 

I turn in Tiwi village. The way to the wadi is just at the entrance of the village on left. I go in and meet the mouth of the river. 

Immediately the river enter in a valley very narrow between high cliffs, pure rocks. There are some palm trees along the river, and the road. During 1 km it is flat, and then it start to climb. I push the bike a short while, and let it when I arrive at a little place in a village. 

I talk a bit with young peoples, and then I continue a while on foot. The path climbs very steep quickly, flatters a little, and then climbs again. All is between high cliffs, with palm trees and the bed of the river. 

I don't go till the top. I come back to the bike and go down till the mouth of the river. Here there are toilet, drinking water and a football ground where I camp, under the highway, a bit noisy but no traffic.
